Anglicized his name to Jimmy "The Greek" Snyder. While Snyder may have given reasonable odds for sporting events at least some of the time, he gave 200 to 1 odds against George McGovern becoming the Democratic nominee for President in 1972.

Snyder's career took an unfortunate dive on 16 January 1988, when he was fired by CBS after he aired his opinion that negro slaves were bred for strength, explaining their superior athletic ability: "The slave owner would breed this big Black with this big Black woman so he could have a big Black kid."
